CHRISTIAN WALLUMRØD ENSEMBLE
Norwegian composer and pianist Christian Wallumrød mixes baroque music and Scandinavian folk with the minimalist universe of Morton Feldman and John Cage. Two years ago, the ensemble released Fabula Suite Lugano on ECM Records to rave reviews. At this concert, they will introduce the audience to their new album. The Guardian described one of their concerts as a "slow-building gig (...) a quietly overwhelming experience."
JAZZ PLAYS EUROPE
Jazz Plays Europe is an international network promoting the exchange of jazz musicians and bands across six European countries. In the framework of this project, the JazzLabSeries from Belgium has set up collaborations with like-minded programmers in France, the Netherlands, Germany, Poland and Slovakia. Their purpose? Giving bands the chance to play on foreign soil and introducing talented musicians from new jazz scenes to each other and the audience. At this concert, Jazz Plays Europe brings together Belgian saxophone and clarinet player Nathan Daems with talented musicians from all over Europe.
